Substitute Teachers

The substitute teacher's role in the educational process is very important. Providing continuity in the classroom during a teacher's absence is essential to a sound education. Do you have an interest in supporting and inspiring students? Consider substitute teaching in MTSD!

  • Substitute teachers must have a teaching license from the Wisconsin DPI, a bachelor's degree from a college/university or an associates degree from a technical or community college. With a bachelors or associates degree, a prospective substitute teacher must complete a training course. Training courses are offered through CESA 1.

  • Substitute teachers have choice and flexibility in the following:

    • Preferred ages/grades
    • Preferred building(s)
    • Content area preferences such as math, art, world languages, etc.
    • Days (or half days) and frequency of availability

  • Daily assignments are paid at $135/day or $62.50/half-day.
