Honoring Veterans
Honoring Veterans
Ozaukee County
Welcome to our grade 7-podcast project! Last fall I visited with a number of students at Lake Shore Middle School about the topic of Veteran's Day. The question on the table was how do we best honor our growing number of veterans in our community while preserving the meaning of what it means to have served our country. The response from the students was overwhelming, and helped guide us to the direction of using a podcast as a way to highlight the great wealth of information available to us in Ozaukee County. Students felt that we should "tell the story" of local monuments as well as the many stories that interrelate on the topic of military service. And so, the podcast project was designed. It is with great pleasure and thanks to all of the 2007-08 grade 7 students that we have produced a world-class collection of stories and photos from around Ozaukee County to be shared with you. It was especially gratifying to see our special needs students integrated with the help of their teachers. The way in which Mrs. Rennane and Mrs. Papendorf involved their students and led the charge was priceless. Additionally, heartfelt thanks to Susan Bailey, Dick Diener, Diane Zens and the grade 7 staff, are extended for the tireless effort and time given to the completion of our project. What a tremendous way to celebrate the impact of service to country!

Welcome
Honor to the soldier and sailor everywhere who bravely bears his country’s cause. Honor also to the citizen who cares for his brother in the field and serves, as he best can, the same cause…
